The Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation, Inc (a Section 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization) presented a $1,750 check to Home of the Sparrow (HOS), which is celebrating its 30th Anniversary.   These funds arose from two sources through the Club's Foundation. A sum of $750 arose from the Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation Chuck & Lois Peterson Endowment, which was established in 2012 by Chuck & Lois Peterson.  An additional $1,000 came directly from the Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation, which represent primarily proceeds from it fundraiser Blues, Brews & BBQ.

Their mission statement is “to provide Hope, Opportunity and Support that empowers women and children as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.”  The number of individuals served grows each year in keeping with increased needs. In 2011, HOS programs served 105 individuals; in 2012, that was 123; in 2013, HOS served 159 persons; in 2014, that number was 224 women and children, and during the 2015 fiscal year, 553 individuals found help through HOS programs. During the 2016 fiscal year, HOS again exceeded their goal by serving 831 individuals
