McCAP - McHenry County Adult Program

McHenry County Adult Program (McCAP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves a small group of young adults with special needs in McHenry County. With a 2:1 student to staff ratio, each participant is encouraged and supported to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.

McCAP was founded in 2001 by a group of parents concerned with the lack of adult programming for their recently graduated children with mental and physical challenges. Begun as a summer pilot in 2002, the program has developed into a part- time, year-round endeavor. The program is not currently receiving any local, State, or federal funds and is being funded through tuition, donations and grants.

The parents strongly felt that a specialized ALP should be available within the county, the group founded McCAP (McHenry County Adult Program) as a vehicle to establish a meaningful learning experience that would enrich and expand the lives of their children within the community.

McCAP’s goal is to become an established full-time therapeutic day program to provide adequate services for these special individuals. McCAP is hoping to incorporate physical, occupational and speech therapeutic services for members.
